Subterranean Termite Treatment

Subterranean Termite Treatment in Bradenton

Family-Owned Subterranean Termite Control in Bradenton Since 2001

Subterranean termites live underground and travel to structural wood through mud tubes, keeping most of their activity hidden until damage is already underway. Bradenton’s warm, humid climate keeps conditions consistently favorable for these colonies, which means the threat is year-round rather than seasonal. Since 2001, our family-owned team at Westfall's Lawn and Pest Control has delivered customized subterranean termite treatment for residential and commercial properties throughout the area. Before recommending anything, our state-certified technicians evaluate the building, the property conditions, the termite species present, and how far activity has progressed.

Signs of Subterranean Termite Activity

Catching activity early limits structural exposure. The most recognizable indicator is mud tubes: pencil-width tunnels of soil and debris that subterranean termites construct along foundations, exterior walls, or crawl space framing to move between the ground and wood. Other signs include discarded swarmer wings near windows or doors, wood that sounds hollow when tapped, and paint that bubbles or peels without an obvious moisture source.

Eastern Subterranean & Formosan Termites

Two subterranean species are active in Florida. The Eastern subterranean termite is native to the region and the most widely distributed termite species in North America. It requires soil contact to survive and typically produces swarmers during daylight hours, with Florida’s native subterranean termites generally swarming from late fall through late spring. The Formosan subterranean termite is an invasive species that builds substantially larger colonies and can cause structural damage more quickly. Florida sits within the “very heavy” termite infestation probability classification, the highest-risk category on national building code maps, so knowing which species is present shapes the treatment approach.

How We Treat Subterranean Termites

Every treatment plan we build follows Integrated Pest Management (IPM) principles, meaning the selected methods reflect the actual species, infestation location, building construction, and property conditions rather than a one-size approach. Florida officials recommend annual professional inspection combined with either a non-repellent liquid soil barrier or an in-ground bait system for subterranean termite control, and our program incorporates both tools when the situation calls for it.

We structure every job through three defined steps:

Inspection

We identify the termite species, document activity levels and damage indicators, and note contributing conditions such as wood-to-soil contact, moisture accumulation, or compromised entry points.

Treatment

For active subterranean termite concerns, we apply trench treatments along applicable portions of the structure, treating the soil directly at the critical interface between foundation and ground. Liquid treatments establish a protective barrier around appropriate areas of the building. We also install Sentricon baiting stations positioned strategically around the property. Sentricon stations intercept foraging termites and deliver a slow-acting bait through the colony, targeting activity at its source. All products are applied in accordance with Florida environmental standards.

Prevention

Ongoing colony monitoring through the Sentricon stations, moisture corrections, perimeter measures, and structural adjustments, where applicable, form the prevention layer that helps keep subterranean termite pressure from returning.

Our Termite Control Process

  • Inspection
We'll perform a thorough termite inspection of your Bradenton home to identify wood-eating insects. All inspection services from Westfall's Lawn and Pest are complementary and will scour your entire home or business for the presence of termites.
  • Treatment
We'll determine the best method of termite treatment for you based on three primary factors; your building type, your personal needs, and the type of termites in question. Westfall's Lawn and Pest typically installs bait stations around your house to ensure ongoing defense and uses spot treatments or trench and treats to remove active infestations.
