Why Value Matters More Than Price in Pest Control in Sarasota and Manatee County

We're all looking for the best deal we can find, so why should pest control be any different? It seems straightforward, right? Most plans cover the common pests, and that generally keeps the bugs away.

Then you have an issue with a pest that is outside the scope of your service. You call for help, only to find out it isn't included in your current plan. It happens more often than you might think.

Not Every Plan Covers the Same Things

Pest control plans vary a lot from one company to the next, and even between plans at the same company. Tube-in-wall systems are a good example. Many newer Florida homes are built with a tube-in-wall system: small ports on the outside of the house connected to tubing inside the walls, so pest control material can be delivered right where pests hide. Treating these systems takes specialized equipment, and not every plan includes it. If you see small plastic ports along the outside walls of your home, ask your provider whether they service them.

That is why it is so important to discuss the features of the service you're buying. Asking which pests are covered only takes a few seconds. If a higher-tier plan costs a little more each month, it's often worth it in the long run for the peace of mind that comes with knowing you're covered.

Florida Pests Come With the Territory

If you live near a preserve, there's a good chance ticks are around. In East Manatee and Sarasota County, most homeowners will run into fire ants at some point. It comes with the territory, and the right coverage makes it a lot easier to deal with.

Rats and mice are found all over the United States, and Florida is no exception. Rodents are common even on the barrier islands along the Gulf Coast, from Anna Maria to Longboat Key to Siesta Key.

What to Ask About Before You Sign Up

When comparing plans, ask whether these are included:

  • Rodent bait stations
  • Fire ant baiting
  • Fleas and ticks
  • Wasps and mud daubers
  • Roaches, ants, and flies
  • Earwigs, millipedes, and silverfish
  • Sweeping of eaves and soffits
  • Pool cage or screened enclosure treatment, inside and out, for spiders
  • Tube-in-wall system treatment

Knowing the answers up front means no surprises later.

Where the Real Value Is

Knowing your home is simply being taken care of is where the real value in pest control is found. Waiting until you have a real problem is one approach, but it's usually not the most affordable one, especially in Florida, where pests are active year-round.
